Looking for somewhere abroad for me and a friend to take a gap year starting August 2014. I know its a lomg shot and its just something we are both considering after finishing 6th form. Currently in lovely grey england. By then we will be 18. Looking to do some ranch work anywhere preferably involving horses but open to any suggestions! Dont suppose anybody knows of anywhere local to you where you are? Not afraid of hard work and have we have our own horses so experienced Thank you! :)

A couple of years ago we stayed at a ranch in Georgia. I is horse paradise! They employ people from all over the world, usually students on gap year, to work with the horses and take guests out on trail rides. It's called southern cross guest ranch http://www.southcross.com/

I second New Zealand. I know an endurance yard looking for gap year workers if you are interested. PM me if you want more info. I can highly recommend them as I spent my gap year with them too :D

I worked on massive cattle stations ( Australian ranches) in the Northern Territory. It was the hardest work imaginable but absolutely amazing. I went through Visitoz.org but if it was something that you were interested in I have plenty of contacts in that area to get you set up with "jillaroo" jobs.
