Garlic

I feed garlic to both my horses. My TBx is currently on medication which is meant to be mixed into her feed but she hates it. My vet said to add extra garlic to hide the taste but it takes about 5 scoops to do it!! I didn't give it a second thought and was just chucking it in until someone said that overdosing a horse on garlic causes anaemia?

I've never heard of this before but am a bit worried now - has anyone else heard this? Also - how much is an overdose?

I'd never heard of this, but just did a bit of Googling and found this article.

Seems around the 2 cups mark is the danger level and at this level the garlic begins killing off red blood cells faster than the body can replace them.

V. interesting I think but I think you'd have to be going some to feed 2 cups a day!!
