If anyone remembers this post http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=382546 I made about a month ago, they will know how at our wits end we were.
Well, Garry Bosworth travelled down from Lincolnshire today to come and see Guinness and try and help....and help he did!!
This was a horse that a month ago, wouldn't go within 2 feet of the ramp & you couldn't get him in to save your life. Well, after 2 hours and him managing successfully to get him to walk in and out of the trailer and stand in there without trying to barge/bolt/back off, I then led him straight up, stood in there with him, talking to him calmly, stroking him whilst he was eating hay whilst the back bar was being put up!!! I then backed him off, re-loaded him and the back bar was put up again AND the ramp slowly and very easily & quietly lifted up. And honestly, yes he wasn't 100% comfortable, but he wasn't particularly distressed either!
We are now going to carry on doing exactly this for the rest of this week and then next week until he's 100% comfortable about being in there, then turn the engine on and drive him slowly round the field. If that goes okay, take him for a short 10 min drive, unload him, let him have a wander and eat, re-load him and drive him back, if that all goes okay, do that a couple more times, increasing the distance slightly and then if that all goes to plan take him to a show
I'm so happy and honestly cannot recommend Garry enough, he is such a nice guy and is really gentle and paitent, doesn't get flustered and he really did work his magic today.
Just thought i'd update you all and plug Garry a bit lol.
