Hi there.
My horse came in from the field on monday with a really nasty gash on the inside of his front leg we think caused by wire but we cant find any obvious places where the wire has become loose in the field. It started as an inch wide graze at the very top of his leg and then as it went down to the knee it went quite deep but luckily missed the muscle. Its a long cut (about 8-10 inches long) and we called the vet out as it was fresh and she has stapled it back together with 9 staples. However it has swollen a lot (hes a typical TB!) and the skin looks really tight around the staples. Someone suggested to me to bandage his legs as he is on box rest for a week to reduce the swelling but i didnt know if this would make it worse? His legs havent filled up that much from being standing in the stable so I didnt know if bandaging his legs would help at all? His wound has been stapled and left to heal on its own and hes on antibiotics and antinflammatorys.
Any ideas?
