Hi all,

My 12 year old mare has started with symptoms of ulcers, I will be getting the vet out as soon as he can make it to check my suspicions but in the meantime I wanted to do my homework and was wondering if any of you knew of a product readily available in NW France to ease digestion and reduce acid in the gut? She is only on grass and hay and the odd carrot now as I have cut out everything else!

Thanks for any help. x

I think most, if not all, UK companies ship to France, if you're willing to pay the postage. I get a lot from Pegasus Health, and they've always been extremely helpful on the phone if I've had any queries.

I've never had a reason to buy ulcer/digestive supplements from them, but I get most of my liver and joint supplements from them - and my micronised linseed.

Decathlon sell micronised linseed, Your local agricole may sell Alfa A.
Unmollased sugar beet, is bettrave du sucre. try bog standard pellets, like Horse Prim, the list of ingredients is similar to the uk advised product which name I have forgotten. All from the local feed place.
Oil , the recommended one is pepinetes du raisin, the dearest in the supermarket! About 4 euros a bottle.
D and h do ulca guard, (or something) a liquid suppliment with slippery elm as one of the ingredients, thats from the uk though
Old wives tale maybe, plain boiled rice once a week.
Also, products by Audevard and Equistro, ,may include something relavent and can be purchased from your local vetinary pharmacy, and also from the vets, do a search on those brand names to see whats available.
If you want to pm me, I can give you another tip!
