Any unmollassed high fibre feed, will help reduce the symptoms.

To get rid of the ulcers you need a proton pump inhibitor, such as omeprazole, which is only presrcibed by a vet after a gastroscopy.

my horse is now on allen and pages ride and relax and calm and condition. its fantastic - so barley, or sugar, but enough to give them umph hes in med - hard work. the 4* horse on the yard has been round badders and burghley for the last 2 years, just on this. i also fed him U-guard by equine america...for about 3 months...we didnt know for sure if it was a stomac ulcer, but all the symptoms went shortly after changing food and feeding u-guard...

Thank u, i have had probs with my horse not eating and loosing condition all for no reason. although he is out at grass 24/7 its not great grass, he gets stressed easily and i feed him barley after reading horse and hound last night it got me thinking...

sounds like mine - when he was really piping fit, and hunting once, sometimes twice a week...he stopped eating...now he loves it, and always eats it - non heating but give them plenty of energy...hes very stressy too, dodson and horrel have also bought a non barley/sugar feed too - that may be easier to get hold of because some feed merchants cant get hold of allen & page
