Apologies up front for the ramble.
My boy started a course of GastroGard last Wednesday after being diagnosed with stomach ulcers (following scope)
I have obviously been watching him quite closely waiting for the miraculous behaviour changes, which have yet to appear to be honest but he is lying down a hell of a lot more.
I hardly ever see him lie down, I know he does overnight in his stable from the shavings plastered all over him but in the 5 years I have known him I have seen him down only about 3 times in the field. The last 3 nights I have gone to get him in from the field and there he is lying down having a snooze, to the extent that last night he stayed down while I went over and fussed him. The only reason he got up is because his girlfriend was about to walk out of the field.
He seems fine in himself and to be honest looked really relaxed and happy but it is so out of character and was not a change I was expecting. I spoke to the vet last night by chance and mentioned this change and his first thought was maybe he is lame, which he isnt, then he decided that maybe it was because there is less pressure/discomfort in his stomach allowing him to relax and lie down but he had not come across it before and told me to keep an eye on him.
I have had so much trauma with him (always and I mean always something wrong with him) that I am now worrying that maybe something is going on that I should pick up on. Has anyone else had this experience?
