, but i found the course good as well. Mum metioned gatcombe a few times, and wandered is it worth going to see? ( im talking about the one with Oliver Townend etc..) is it quieter than badminton? if so how much?

thanks in advance xxx

Quite a different event, load less shopping, interesting event and very friendly. Got a different feel to being a one day event I suppose I prefer it as you can see the horses doing everything.

What about Burghley that brillant and I prefer it to Badminton?

oooo... so is gatcombe a one day event? sorry

If you want the shops, the buzz, the crowds etc then do badders.

If you go for the sport then Gatcombe is lovely!

I do both (get free car pass for Gatcombe though so no cost for me

) and badders is only up the road and so we get 2 adult season passes and fill up the espace with "kids" (amazing what a hoody and baseball hat can do

)

gatcombe is sooo much better if you want to get up close to the jumps and it is much more friendly! badminton is good but i find it hard to get a close look at the jumps!

Gatcombe would get my vote, cant beat it especially if the weather is good. I love sitting on the stone wall watching the show jumping, also the park bowl is an natural ampitheatre so good views of several xc fences.

Only for the benefit of the ticket checker man - hoody and a baseball cap, eyes down and a DS or something in your hand and you get in as a kid everytime!

Of course it all gets discarded once we actually park the car

i love gatcombe, not so commercialised as badminton imo - that would be the one id choose to go to!

however being a dressage bod il probably go watch a couple of the premier leagues instead

And id like to venture to the Bundeschampionat in August if i can afford it.

PG - come up and spend the gatcombe weekend with me!! Its just up the road and we always make a weekend of it!

Gatcombe is lovely but for me Badders is just so much more exciting! I find the open champs is always a bit of a let down due to the high number of withdrawals following sj

Love them both and do both every year but preferbadders always a great start to the season and it is my birthday weekend. Gatcombe is good too loads less shops and people but still good but as boss said loads of horses withdrawing before Xc does make it a bit annoying.
