Well im some respects you have to look at it as a leaning curve for us both.

Started off with the dressage and he warmed up great so was looking foward to the test!! Went in and did his stuff and got 35.7 so very pleased!!

Then warmed up for the SJ was a little worried when he stopped at the oxer twice but put it down in front and he popped it so went in and did a lovely round to have 2 down!!

Then XC, thought it was a lovely course but when we were hearing the commentary it was causing lots pf problems! So set out not very fast i dont think over 1, 2 and 3 nicely. Hit 4 an upright gate right angles to a hedge which he also got a bit close to then flew through number 6 a open rail on an angle 2 strides to an open rail corner to another rail on 2 stride then 7 and 8 nicely 9 another combination fine if not a little hairly think they said he forgot to pick his front legs up!

then 10 well 11 a bounce jumped that a little long so pinged over the wall after on to another hedge another wall which he hit then a skinnie rail out if a wood then the water!! Have had a few issues with water so rode quite strongly with one hand off the rain hitting him - so to my relief jumped in not all that stylishly i think but then the step out not sure what happend but next think i knew i was on the floor eating mud with a very painful arm and song with a chunk out of both knees - later found out hes nick the tendon sheath as well. So i get some brain tests and think i got my odd and even numbers mixed up!

and a dressing on my arm!! would like to thank holly and jancis at this point as they were watching the whole thing and were great telling me waht was going on with song! heard them call for the horse ambulance ahh but he was alright and wisked of to the princess yard!! Lol and me to the doctors tent for another dressing and to have the stud hole washed out!

After all this a friend came back with us in the lorry and we went to pick song up from the yard - fully sedated with a robert jones like bandage on so he couldnt bend his knee, poor boy.

So hes home now and being seen by the vet for another feww days so they can change the bandage and look at the other knee and give him antibiotics.

Hes on box rest for 10 days and now work for about 6-8 and well me im signed off my the doctor from eventing for the week so no keysoe for me and gogs, and obviously no weston for me and song!!!

So all in all been a pants season for me and song and alot worse that then one previous so i think we will do as were told and stick novices from now on until we have enough points to go interdiate.

And some picture of the star of the show - not to gorey!

Last Night

Boss text me yesterday and told me what had happened. Poor you. At least you are both fine and no long lasting damage. Poor Goggle will have to wait a bit longer for his debut!

Oi you, no computer/tv for at least 3 days I thought!!

Glad he's home and ok, Holly and I were covered in blood for the rest of the day *nice*

Oh what a rotten end to the event you were so looking forwards to...but you both live to fight another day and will heal with a bit of time.
I hate that feeling when you can hear people talking to you after a fall but they seem a long way away and you can't seem to get yourself together to answer properly.
Layla skinned her knees really badly to the bone but we used the honey/cod liver oil tulles on them and they have healed almost completely, just waiting for the last bit of hair to grow. Song's don't sound anywhere near as bad so hopefully they will be better within few weeks. If not think about the dressings they seem to work without leaving any scars.
Your dressage sounded good, so try and remember that and don't get too down, I reckon only eventing can have you high as a kite one minute, down in the dumps the next..
Hope your arm feels better very soon..x

Oh B, sorry to hear it didn't go to plan. At least you're both in one piece, hope you both have a speedy recovery. My trainer said she was held around fence 9 for ages, wonder if that was you? Nice to see other HHO'ers helping out, great job guys!!

thanks guys i always know you will make me feel beter about the whole thing!!

Oh the TV thing went out the window last night needed to catch up on heroes!!! LoL

Oh ye saw you come back XC and i think back from SJ lovely horse you have!! and i think i saw ton pondering over the bounce!!

Oh Beth, sorry to hear about this, but at least you both live to fight another day. What a superb dressage though, that is brilliant.

Ouch that all sounded painful for both of you.

Don't worry too much about song's knees, one of mine fell in a water complex 2 years ago and scraped his knee down to the bone - it was the most horrific injury I've ever seen. He had 14 staples put in it and wore a robert jones bandage for a month, and then after 2 weeks paddock rest he was back in work. At the time people told us that immobilising the knee was an old-fashioned way of doing it and we should get a 2nd opinion but afterwards they had to agree that his recovery was incredible. Good luck x

Very glad to read this (in a way), as some people came back to your lorry looking for his cooler etc and carrying his tack, and said he'd bust an artery, then when we came back later the lorry was gone, so was praying you hadn't had an empty one to take home. Hugs to you both, best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Glad you are ok and that Song will make a full recovery. It could have been so much worse for both of you. You should be due a good season next year anyway.

Oh hon. Im so sorry to read this.
Glad to hear you are both going to be okay tho. When I heard you'd had a fall and Song was taken to hospital I was really worreid.
He looks rather bright in his box tho
