Gate lever mechanisms operated from horse-back; where to find?

Hello all - when I was visiting the UK a couple of years ago, we went for a walk along the bridle paths in the Hundred Acre Wood. Beautiful paths (made me pine for a horse to ride them!), but I was especially impressed by the way the gate opening mechanisms were set up, with tall lever handles that came up above the gate and could easily be operated from horse-back.

I've search high and low for any information about these and found absolutely nothing - does anyone on here know (a) what they are called and (b) where you get them from?

Thanks in advance,
Kirsty

Have you searched for bridlepath or bridleway gates? We don't have them everywhere but I do know the ones you mean. I don't like them much myself, the ones I've come across are sprung so you can't open, ride through and close without it trying to shut it's "jaws" on your horse!

If you are talking about the green triangular metal openers that are on the gates into the grazing area on Ashdown Forest, adjacent to the wood,... (which are indeed easy to operate from a horse, tho' if the gate is not hung well, there are still problems)...try contacting the conservators of Ashdown Forest...
