Hi, am constantly inundated with requests to go and do gate shutting days for people who feel they are unable to readily hop on and off or hunters who do not want to spend their day at the back of the field. Do regular hunt members feel there is any scope in offering a 'professional gate shutting service' whereby the hunt either employes such a company to supply gate shutters throughout the season, or individuals can pay for such a business to supply horses and people to cover their days? Thanks

Very doubtful that a hunt would be prepared to pay for a professional gate shutting service. It's possible however that you could cover for people who would then pay you, but you'd probably have to be prepared to travel quite a bit, covering people from lots of packs, to make it profitable.

We have a rota of pairs of people, you have to offer your time for 2days during the season and you get a day's free hunting for doing it.

I certainly wouldn't pay for someone else to do it !
