We are looking for something to put down in the field gateway over the winter to get our horse in and out without sinking knee deep in mud (horrible thought!) The water sits in the gate and can get deep.

We were looking for something like very strong plastic mesh to lay down. I think metal might be too expensive. It is a field we rent over winter to rest ours so we don't need anything permanent but having nearly lost our wellies and horse shoes in the gate we need something. Any ideas and names of suppliers?

Try www.fieldguard.com, they have loads of different types of mats including field ones for paths and gateways. For deep mud I agree with the others who have posted, I would recommend digging it out and putting some hardcore down before the mats, otherwise the mat will sink

Thanks. The Fieldguard site is just what I was looking for. We didn't want to put hardcore down becuse it is not our field. This we can take up and keep until next winter. If we can stop it getting poached in the first place we should be OK.
