Anyone else have a gay horse? I have decided my mare is possibly a lesbian. We regularly pass a field with a nice gelding who always cavorts about when we pass, but my girl pays him no attention at all. We also sometimes pass a stallion who really struts his stuff for her benefit. She doesn't even give him a passing glance.
Today, there was a new horse in a nearby field, a nice little filly. She cantered across, tail in the air and showed off, prancing about. Well, I was astonished - my mare stopped and tried to go over to the fence to speak and I had a right old time trying to get her to go on. She has never shown the least interest in horses we pass before.
It occurred to me later in the day - I have a lesbian horse! What do you think?

We used to joke about one of the ponies being gay, where I used to ride. When the old mare was in season she used to back the poor lad up against the fence and wiggle her bum at him - he always looked utterly horrified:D:D Much prefered his gelding buddy - it was a true bromance!

i swear mine is. loves a good groom with geldings ( never mares ) not at all brave, and scared of the stupidest things, and generally very overdramatic about...everything!

One day we got a call saying can we bring our mares in as it seemed a stallion from a neighbouring farm had got loose and was trying to mount the mares...
We rushed down and as we reached the field, it dawned on us.
It was OUR mare trying to mount the other mares...embarrassment or what?!?! :( She's done it twice since...I just wonder why!? Is she a lesbian or just a bit backwards???!

Danny is..... he's been seen to try and mount (the wrong end of...) one of the geldings he used to be turned out with. Never bothers with mares, tries to bite them if anything! Used to be always pulling faces when he had mares on either side... Now he has my 11.1 gelding on one side and never bats an eyelid!
He's also obsessed with Dimples though :o He's constantly trying to nuzzle Dimp, get his attention etc. but Dimples doesn't care....
Made his week though as he's back turned out with two other geldings now! :p

I knew a pair of geldings who were half brother and cousins (same sire, dams half sisters) and one tried to mount the other on a few occasions we saw and probs more besides!

I've always said that my boy was gay - he used to be terrified of mares, he's ok with them now, but not interested in them.

Where as he LOVES my friends chestnut Arab (gelding) - so much so that when he moved over the road, he instantly partnered up with the 1/2 Arab chestnut gelding to replace him =D - still nothing like the real thing so he has to make do with the fake untill we go riding so he can have kisses with the real thing :) x

I think that my gelding may be gay as he has previously mounted other geldings and never a mare, each to his own i guess :)

I have a Dutch Warmblood who was gelded late and can sometimes show a few stallion tendencies, although i think he may be a bit confused, he'll walk straight passed a mare 'winking' at him but a gelding with a nice large rump certainly can get his attention. God love him.........

don't see why animals can't be "gay" to be honest.......it is a natural instinct in humans so why not in other higher mammals? Or maybe it is a sign of being further evolved? :)

My horse is Bi. Truly, she goes both ways - her one true love is a Welsh cob mare named Tiggy, and she also fell deeply for our ex-YO's mare. Her current squeezes - she fluctuates between the two - are both geldings, one a 16.3 grey, the other a 14.2 chestnut pony :D

There is a beautiful Andalusian stallion in the barn behind Ellie's stable; she doesnt give him a second glance :D

My old horse pair-bonded with another gelding, and they were totally inseparable, if one was taken out the other would holler blue murder.

They were totally in love one with the other, total devotion no less, and would stay in the field for hours grooming each other, then giving each other little love bites.

Bless 'em both; they're both gone now, but they had a wonderful civil partnership going, and were both totally gay and loved it!

my rather tall dark handsome gelding booted a mare when she dared get it all out for him whilst she was in season
