Could you use one as a mobile field shelter to provide shade out of the sun or is it a really silly idea?

I'm off on holiday next week andmy Mum is doing Daisy. Unfortunately Daisy is as strong as a rhino and unless its absolutely necessary I'd rather my Mum didn't lead her anywhere, just fed her in the field. Her field has no natural shelter so in the current weather I've been bringing her in during the day because her stable is lovely and cool. Ideally I'd get a friend to look after her for me but we stupidly all booked to go on holiday at the same time this year so Mum's going to have to manage for the first few days until a friend gets back

it would be like having a tent in the field - too much opportunity for accidents i would say, they are flimsy and tent poles come apart and guy ropes are not good either - just my oppinion - sorry

We used to use them at polox tornaments and they worked really well, although I have never left one in the field... my horse would rub on it and knocj it down! k

Also, you can get ones that don't have rope and don't have 'connecting' poles... they just have joints in the poles that open up.

Having just had to take our gazebo down in a hurry when the wind strengthened I voted Horrid Idea! I think it could easily blow down and frighten the horses, quite apart from the hazard of guy ropes/poles etc.

I would relax - as lzt says, the forecast is for rain by the end of the week.

Good plan in theory but I reckon either:
a) a gust of wind will blow it away
b) Ponio will be frightened of odd tenty thing in field and go nowhere near it
c) she'll flatten it within 15 mins!!
