Nick Skelton & Transmission and Ben Maher & Wonderboy III have already been winners at the Assen CSI 3* : http://eventcontent.hippoonline.de/443/443zeitplanNED.htm
Other Brits there: John Whitaker (with Peppermill making his return to international classes), Tim Gredley, Robert Whitaker, Sophie Tobin, Dan Neilson Gemma Paternoster & Chris Frazer.
Live video coverage from the show is at http://www.uhorse.tv/cms/pages/index.php Next international class (1.45 2 phase due to start at 1pm our time.

John Whitaker unfortunately suffered a fall in an earlier class today on Peppermill. It is believed that he has broken his leg and will have to have it operated on.
Very sad news for John, his family and Becky the owner of peppermill. This was his first come back since his injury and they were planning on taking him to the global champions final in Doha.

On a happier note Ben Maher is in leading rider posistion.

Thanks for that sad news. I didn't have time to watch online today (also found that they now charge €3.50 per day to watch live and the stream did not used to be very reliable in quality).

I did see that John was down as being eliminated, thanks for claryfying, but what sad news.I tried to get onto live stream, but instead read the results.Seems to have been a good show for the Brits apart from the accident.

Decided to part with my €3.50 today so recently finished watching the first international class online, and the stream was excellent (no commentary or captions, just the announcements from the show announcer and camera focusing on score at end of each round). Glad to see Transmission in good form for Skelly - nice smooth round to take 5th prize, with Ben and Let's Fly also going well for 8th. Looking forward to the GP, due off at 2.15. All 8 remaining Brits on the start list with 3 (Dan, Nick & Ben) in the last 4 to go because of their places in the Leading Rider table as of last night.

Sorry yes it was John! Has been confirmed that the leg is broken but haven't heard anything since.
Ben Maher did win the leading rider award. He finished 12th on Wonder Boy in the grand prix, a young Dutch guy won.

Ben was unlucky not to make the jump-off, just catching the last fence (which caught a lot of the others). Wonderboy looked very proud in the spotlight when Ben collected his LR award!

I've read that John's ankle was broken in 2 places and that he'd had a bad bash on his nose, but was back at the show on crutches. Presumably Peppermill is ok?

that is a shame poor John,

but on a positive note it might mean that it provides an oppertunity to another bodding Brit to get a few invites to the FEI shows..... can't make to the top if you dont get the invitations.......
