does anyone have these at your yard?
do they live up to their reputation of good security.

if you have guinea fowl, do you have them in pens or do they roam around?

I know someone who had guinea fowl, noisy ruddy things, quite nomadic too, often ended up in the road/neighbours garden!! Lovely birds though and good eggs!! Geese are great guards but can become a nuisance in the breeding season becoming very aggressive, neither birds are immune to an attack by a hungry fox either so lock them up at night - although guinea fowl will roost in trees given the chance.

I had geese for years and I do miss them. They are fine if you know how to handle them and we bought our first birds when they were 8 years old and they were never terribly aggressive to us, they soon realised who fed them.

We have Guinea Fowl - They are like Chicken Licken, running around screeching that the sky is falling in....... Silly birds, very noisy though if that's what you are after.

We had geese when I was a teenager on our farm. Now they were nasty. They chased me more times than I care to remeber and ended up going to train sheepdogs because of their herding instinct. Best thing for them, and true justice after the way they chased us about

yeah was hoping the noise would put off intruders? and one of my customers told me his nested in trees so was wondering if they should be left out or locked away at night. had also heard that foxes dont go for guinea fowl? presumably cos of their absurd noise.
re geese? would it be best to get a pair - male & female as ive heard that this is also best for security.
how much of a nusiance are they come breeding season?

Guinea foul cant be eletricuted!

weell my nans couldnt, the number of times we saw them fly up & land on the big consumer thinig on the electric pilons (sticky up bits with coils) they aways screeched, hit the deck & then ran off. Eastern electric were not so impressed the day they managed to blow the power to the whole road.

lol bloody things lol, they sound like fun things to have around.
what do horses think to them and their noise? i know most horses dont really like the way pheasants behave with the screaching and shooting up into the air - are they anything like that?

We got rid of our guinea fowl as the noise was incredible! They slept in with the chickens except 2 which took up sleeping on the barn roof. They scream at every moving blade of grass from dawn til dusk, don't get if you have neighbours!
