So, I need to get a gel pad as my saddle is moving a bit. I have saddler booked, but he can't come until end June, so I want to get something until then, and it might ask him to re flock the saddle to for the gel pad, as I like her to have some shock absorption underneath, she seems much happier with it.
I don't know whether to get the shaped gel pad, which goes between the numnah and saddle, and will stop the saddle moving off the pad, but maybe the numnah will still move, or whether to get the twin sided gel pad, which is an all in one numnah, (so would have to get the white one for the dressage part of eventing I guess).
Any thoughts. I know a few people put me off using the gel pads on the back as the holes can pull hairs through, but the twin sided gel pad does not have the holes, so shouldn't cause a problem.

I use a shaped (and holey) gel pad that sits between horse and saddle, no numnah, I have never had hairs pull through the holes, and it has really helped keep my saddle steady whilst we work off some excess weight which has been causing the saddle to slip. She has lost enough now so that the saddle no longer slips, but I will still use the gel pad as it is really good and we are both comfortable with it.

Think I replied to your original post, I use an Acacvallo gel pad all the time (next to skin) and have never had a problem with any horses/saddles that I have used it with. Think they are brilliant. Currently used on very flat/wide back to stabilise saddle.

I used a gel pad (cant remember the make) it was just pure gel, put it on my pony between his skin and saddle and walked 5 steps only to be catapulted through the air and ended up leaving in an ambulance. Totally out of character for him and he now wont let the gel pad come near him!
