Hi, I have recently bought a lovely ex racehorse straight out of training. All is going well with him but I have noticed that whenever I have him in he pee's alot. He will generally go as soon as I bring him in, even if he is on concrete, and then he will go straight after I have ridden him, he hasn't tried to go whilst on exercise. Today I brought him in and tied him up to tack up and he peed once, quite a normal colour, amount etc. Then he tried to go once more while I was getting him ready, which was barely a dribble. When he does go he seems to make an effort to make himself go.
I have not had any experience of this before, I normally have mares (who wee non stop anyway)
He is only really just learning to relax in the field so I'm wondering whether he wee's on the yard because he is more chilled and happy there.
Any thoughts or experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks!

Bean? Maybe a sheath clean, if he is trying to wee and can't.

If he was just weeing a lot, I would say check how much water he is drinking.

Thank you all for your thoughts, I am going to get him checked out even if it for peace of mind. We think that is might be slight nerves/excitement when he is anticipating going out riding. Fingers crossed that is all it is as he is only just turning 9 so something like cushing's would be devastating!

It may well be excitement or anticipation. I had a gelding that always weed as soon as he was put on the lorry, very annoying. another always weed when he was expecting a feed. I'd rather have one like this than one that refused to wee away from home! He was an eventer so when it was apparent that he needed a wee before he'd even done his dressage we knew he wasn't going to jump very well!
