Gelding

This may be a really stupid question- and it is only a what if- I am not planning to do it, just OH asked the question and I was'nt sure of the answer.

What would be the implecations of gelding a 5/6 year old?

Both mine are late gelded. Tom was 7 and Jack 5 (after covering mares).

I think, apart from it being a more serious procedure, that a lot depends on the attitude of the stallion and how he has been handled prior to gelding. Something well mannered should stay that way but if its a stallion with real attitude or a bad upbringing a lot of the bahaviour could stay with him after gelding.
