OK, I'm going a little loopy here, vacuuming etc...if you could genetically engineer a pony, what would it be like? The sillier, the better!

Here's my contribution:

Lots of ponies "live on air". Well, I want a pony that lives on dust bunnies and cat hair. It could be a lead-rein pony for visiting nephews etc., and in the meantime, it would keep my flat tidy. :)

...ok, I've completely lost it, haven't I? :o

I want one like in Avatar, where you plug yourself in and it automatically reads what you want. Oh and jumps 10ft, and does all the high level dressage moves. :)

Oh and slightly off topic but if you clone a coloured horse, do you get the same markings?

i'd have one that could get anywhere really really fast, like jet speed. failing that i'd just have a pegasus or plug in wings for my girls hahah!

Mrs_M, thanks! JoBo, I think it would probably have the same spots in the same places...

...now, WHY are there PONY NUTS all over my living room floor behind the arm-chairs?
1) the Spooky Pony doesn't get fed pony nuts!
2) the Spooky Pony doesn't live in my living room!

Is there an alternative explanation?

Explanation found: they're not pony nuts, they're wood pellets from the cat litter, that look like pony nuts. I'm going nuts!

Oh it would definately have to be an Avatar horse, that preferably cost very little to keep (or nothing!) & do all the annoying jobs (eg mucking out) for itself.

To answer this, no you dont get the same markings, but you do get the same colours. Markings on a horse are partly related to the temperature of the uterus. I think if you have a hot uterus you get more white, & a cold uterus equals more colour. I may have this the wrong way round so cold may equal more white, the genetics & breeding lectures are disappearing from my brain! lol!

Wow, that's like alligator babies' sex depending on the temperature of the eggs! Or am I making that up? Anyway, that's very interesting!
