Genetics of epilepsy

Having given up on rescues and private rehouse, OH and I have decided that next pup will either be a Smooth collie or an Italian Spinone (although haven't ruled out another WGR either-much depends upon timing).

I have been sent some useful information on Spinones thanks to WorkingGSD. Epilepsy seems to be a bit of an issue in the breed and they are trying to address it. Having lost a young dog to it this year I am keen to not go through it again. I understand there are no guarantees but was wondering if anyone had any knowledge about heritability please?

No probs. I knew she would be helpful, but it is always good to get as much info from as many different sources as possible.

I rather suspect if the AHT doesn't know, not many others will but I really don't want to go through it again and there are other considerations living with an epileptic dog too.
