Once again thanks for last night's supportive post. It really means a lot.

Genie gave us a big scare last night. She went out in the field for the first time since last Friday, she wasn't even out for half an hour. She came in shaking all over and with a temp of over 104F. Called my amazing vet who said to give her 2 danilon and recheck in an hour. After an hour she was up to 105.5 so my vet came out.

She's had another 3 jabs, I have a small pharmacy in my tack room, and once again she's responded really well. No turnout for the forseeable future (and she HATES being stabled) but we have the use of the yard's bullpen for as long as we need it.

I went and checked het at midnight last night. Her temp was down to just under 101 and she was much brighter.

This morning she's bright as a button. Wolfed down her drugs, fought with me while I bathed her nose, and I needed a chifney to get her to the bull pen. If her temp stays down then I may be riding her at lunchtime!

My friends, YO and vet have all been amazing.

Current worries with her other than the obvious are now the risk of lymphangitis and stress laminitis so keeping a close eye on her.

Vet has said it's got to be something she's eaten so am walking the field again today.

Thanks everyone.

Really, really glad to hear this. :) I hope you find whatever it is that has set her off. Could there perhaps have been something in her hay/ feed that set her off?

:)

Glad she's brighter this morning, but what a worry!?! You must be shattered, just when you think you've got over the worse and she can go back out and it happens again. Is there another paddock she could be turned out into (when she is eventually allowed to be turned out again) to see if it's something in that individual field that is effect her??

Whatever it is I hope you get to bottom on it and she makes a full recovery soon. Are you sure she'll be ok to ride??

So glad to hear Genie is feeling better and that you've got a great support network on her road to a full recovery....will be keeping everything crossed for yuo and Genie for a speedy return to full health :-) X

Can you do an intolerance test, ie: bring her in and put her on a hay replacement for a day or 2, then give her your hay (you mentioned that when she was feeling better the other day she and her companion shared a haynet). If she is ok with that it will be the field you add next, maybe you could section it into a grid like system and put her into a new bit everyday, it may make identifying the culprit easier if you know what section of the field it is (that is going on the fact that it is something she ingested from the field)

P.S. hugs and best wishes to you both, I really hope you get to the bottom of it soon.

So glad she is better today, was very worried for you last night. Have to say, I've know horses be allergic to certain types of grass in the past, but none with such an aggressive reaction, poor girl. I did post last night about the possibility of it being clover, it seems that it's a common trigger.

Thank you so much for taking the time to update us I would be having heart failure over it by now good luck with finding the cause.

How big is the field is it worth squaring of and doing an in depth check, anything in the hedges?

Sorry no help I'll bet you have gone over this 100 times in your head.

Just love and best wishes for you both.

I am really pleased to hear she is still fighting you, hope she continues to keep getting better... Thank you for the update, I was worried for you both last night, I've signed on at work to find out how she was now...

Must be something in that field? what about her hay? how very odd??.... nothing show from her blood test?.
