If things were different I’d definitely be interested in finding out more about her but one bitch is enough in my small cottage.

Taken from the Many Tears group on FB

Frisby is still in kennels, waiting patiently for her people to find her. But whilst she is here she is stealing everyone's hearts - dogs and people alike!
She makes friends with everyone and there is not a day that goes by where she isn't told how incredibly beautiful she is by a stranger (and the staff too). You'd think a dog as perfect as this one would have been snapped up, so why is she still here?
She loves other dogs, but could be an only in the right home. She could live with older dog savvy children as she is just bouncy but oh so loving!
Can someone please give her the incredible special home she deserves, we all want to wave her goodbye knowing she is going off to live her absolute best life!

Pretty girl. It is interesting (and concerning) how many sables are ending up in rescue, you very rarely saw one, particularly grey sables like this. I was talking to the lady who runs GSD Welfare and she says they are seeing no end of dark sables and all blacks, which are often working line type.

It does say that she is strong on the lead and is an escape artist and will chase cats which might put some people off her.

Re the working line type, it's just the march of time, if you think about when the first European working lines started being brought to the UK in the late 80s and early 90s (Dark, Dux, Ary were some of the first 'big' WL imports after 'The Split' and were widely used by police forces, not all the pups from all those litters would have made the grade) the Pet Passport scheme made it easier for people to bring outside lines in, the dark greys and blacks are no longer the preserve of the forces or hardcore competitors or dedicated breeders who would have been very selective about where their puppies went or on which bitches their stud was used, now anyone can get or have or breed one now or get one of their descendants, they are becoming pretty ubiquitous now. They'll go the same way as showlines, if not already, in terms of lines being diluted/qualities being bred out for the pet market.
Someone I know used a well-bred working dog who competed at world level on any old bitch and sold to any old punter and I can't imagine the level of interbreeding there is in that community, puke. Can give nerviness and aggression, but some of the females can be very soft. Just luck of the draw what an innocent pet buyer might get.
And even good breeders can't really control what happens when they sell a puppy. I've seen dogs from very good breedings/kennels pop up in otherwise 'nothing' pedigrees, just because they've been passed from person to person and it doesn't matter to some people, what they have or what they don't have, as long as the dog and the bitch can do the business....

Moobli, this is not the first time you have mentioned her (my fault the first time, I'm sorry!) Dogs take up as much room as they are big. I currently have both puppies next to me on the recliner and Bear on my knee. My OH has gone next door because there's no room for him. I regularly shuffle round so as not to trip over a dog.

I think the key is stimulation, exercise and being loved. Are you sure she wouldn't fit??

I don’t think the rescue would rehome to me from what I’ve heard anyway. I have two GSDs in the house and have had more so it’s not actual space so much as I’m not sure I want to spread myself more thinly as I already have two young dogs.

It is a worry but not entirely surprising since there are more working lines being seen outside of working or sport environments. The GP seem to view show lines as “banana back” / working lines as “straight back. So rather than thinking about what the different lines may need in terms of training, exercise, stimulation etc they just choose one look over the other. There’s also a macho element attached to the working lines that is also regularly seen with Malinois. More being bred, more sold to inexperienced and inappropriate homes = more dumped in rescue.

I never watch the Dogs Behaving Very Badly programme but was told about a working line GSD on one of the recent programmes. He was a cracking dog that just needed a job to do and his brain and body working regularly. It was upsetting to watch.

First time I've seen that excuse used. Are you sure he doesn't just get better sfood over there?
.

*shudders* The neighbours boils all vegetables to straw colour. Went round for Sunday dinner once, never again. We always have her round here.

I didn't mean next door neighbour, literally the next room. I was on the recliner with 3 dogs, he went into the lounge. He's still testing positive so has been nowhere.

I’ll be sure to send any others I see your way ?
It’s a bit of a pipe dream at the moment, can’t afford to add more animals unfortunately. Especially with my reasonably priced Connemara yearling now costing more than double what I paid for him in vets bills ? I’ve always wanted a GSD though.

I knew what you meant (well I thought you meant another sofa) it just gave me a grin, which was very welcome ?
