Just got round to getting on here having been out of the office for two whole days and coming back to my desk piled high with stuff that's all urgent.
It was a brilliant lesson and much needed. Ross has been a complete nutter for about 3 weeks, then I've had two lessons in the last week, at both of which he's been like butter would melt in his mouth: "What me, naughty? Never! I'm always sweet like this." Yeah right!
Anyway, long may it last (ideally till after Burnham PN on Thursday). Geoff said something about horses getting confused when you jump them from trot and canter, so I won't be doing that anymore. The main thing I got from it was that I'm not to jump courses unless I'm at a competition so that he's always going into the ring a bit "looky" - that should stop him getting too blase (sorry, couldn't find the French "e" acute!). And also to never let him go down a grid with it exactly the same as the time before; even little changes will keep him not knowing what to expect and therefore thinking about what he's doing.
I can't wait to see some pics, particularly the third last one of Snoop over the oxer - that will be the best of all I reckon. Sorry I didn't get to see Kp123 either, as I had to get home.
Big thank you to Horse magazine for knocking Ross and I into shape!
Your boy is stunning and had snoopy been good about being loaded, I would have stollen him and put him on my box too lol
Lucky enough for you.... snoop took 10mins to load
so you may have caught us lol
I wanna see that pic of the oxer too lol He really got in the air lol
Thank you, I'll let you know how it goes. You might have had to use a very large shoehorn to get Ross in your lorry if you'd decided to steal him! I'll let you know when I'm fed up of him, maybe we can swap for a while?!
I only got to see Snoop which is a shame as i would have liked to see Ross as well. Glad everyone had a good time though, much better than work and how good was the weather!!

Well if Winston is built like Ross maybe he should have a little foray into the world of Working Hunters, as Ross is going to? It means they can be as chunky (aka fat) as they like, they don't have to gallop for very long, and normally don't have to get up as early as when they go eventing! I'm sure he'd love it.
PMSL!
Winston loves being fat throughout the summer. Its the one thing thats a complete relief to me this summer not eventing him. Means I can just let him get as round as he likes (within reason) lol
I did a dressage comp on him in the summer (year we didnt event) Judge got out and said what a lovely big hunter PMSL! i replied you mean my over weight eventer
