George is not the sharpest knife in the drawer

I have always suspected George was a little um dim

, he is the horse who it took 6 weeks to work out what to do with a snack ball and 2 mths to work out what likits were

Well put him out in the field yesterday in his muzzle for the first time and he just stood there for 5 hrs - he didn't move or even attempt to eat! In the end the YM caved in and took it off him

In the end today we had to cut a bigger hole in the bottom and eventually after more cajoling he sort of got the idea - bless his heart, must take after his mum

Murphy took days to work out how to use a muzzle...and then about a week to work out how to take it off!! At least George has got the idea now, bless his cotton socks!

It took my warmblood a good three days or so to realise that he could eat with a grazing muzzle on. I'm glad to hear he isn't the only horse who didn't understand them at first!

Sounds like a smart horse to me - he got it taken off in the end, didn't he. He's probably hoping you'll take the hint and won't try using it again

I cut the whole a little bigger too in the shires muzzle and my pony has now got the hang of it. He liked the greenguard best but it has rubbed under the chin and below one nostril.

With my three, one nearly gave itself splints from pawing the ground in temper, one stood there giving me the most pitiful and beseeching looks and one was convinced the grass was faulty and tried every spot in the field - before patience overcame all three and they finally chomped away (albeit in a restricted fashion) for the rest of the summer.

OK, maybe not so happy as a normal, free-to-graze pony but a darn sight happier than one cooped up in a stable on bute, ACP and soaked hay - oh and in pain/bored to death. Cruel to be kind - sometimes you have to be.

This year I have opted for this method of restricting the available grass................
8 million sheep on a postage stamp

my sec a had her muzzle for precicly 20 minutes today and she has managed to completely take the plastic part out at the bottom and break the two cheekpieces so back to our indoor school for her !!!!

Oh brighteyes - LURVE your 8 million sheep idea!!!!! I live in Wales and it's said that there are 3 sheep for every person in Wales. If that's so, WHERE ARE MY THREE??????? So, please could you wrap up the tastiest looking one in your pic and post it to me with an oxo cube and a jar of mint sauce? Many thanks xxx

Hi Trish,
I would say that was highly intelligent as he can now each as much as he wants again without you restricting him!!!!
