Well tried George with his equibalancer 'pessoa' today, when I put it on he looked like he was going to cry, his eyes were all arched and his lip was quivering (honestly)

I nearly took it straight off! I loosened it right off for him and this is the result:

It looks ok to me

When I put pics up I was told the sheepskin bit should be level with the stifles, and I can fit it so it does that but as soon as horse moves it slips to wear yours is now, he looks relaxed in it, Did he go better in it than he normally goes on the lunge?

Despite a bit of trepidation to start with he went tons better than usual, only did a couple of mins each side so as not to strain his muscles too much.

Dozziesmummy I am so loving owning my own horse!

It depends on the age and level of training of the horse. I have had no professional training in use of the Pessoa, but have used it regularly on my own horse. For me, it looks a little long in trot as the horses nose is in front of vertical. He also looks as though he could be using his back a bit more, and so I would gradually shorten it for trot work. Personally, I don't really use it for any other pace than trot because I have found it very difficult to get the length right for walk while maintaining the quality of the pace and the forward movement.

I agree with Tas. I think you could gradually take it in a bit for trot work. I've been using mine for 12 weeks on the vets advice and have gradually built up to canter work and working over raised poles and my horse has a fab topline for the first time ever and his old owner commented tonight on how fab he's looking. I really recommend it.
Saying that I'm getting a bit bored with it now. After 12 weeks of lunging almost every day the novelty of my new toy has worn off!

I think it looks a little tight for your first few sessions. Start with it on the loose side, the sheepskin bit looks fine, and gradually shorten it. My physio has now produced a video as the instructions are a bit pants, definitley worth a look try googling Gail Williams. It's a brilliant piece of kit but I got her to show me how she wanted it used

Aww he looks as gorgeous as ever!

I would have let him have his head a bit more for the first time, but I think George is too laid back to kick up a fuss and be bothered!

Too me i would loosen off the 'breeching' part of the device i.e under his bottom, i do not have it 'level with the stifle' i have mine sitting lightly in the curve of the hind leg and when standing it should not put pressure on when at rest.
I also , with my really new to pessoa horses dont have it between the fron legs as i dont like the over curling i would want him to stretch a bit more forward rather than pull him down. this will encourage more support from the hind leg in a carry forward way. Hope thats ok.
Nice pony!!
