I went to "An audience with Gerd Heuschmann" on Saturday 11th (just gone), organised by Horses Inside Out at Vale View equestrian centre in Leicestershire, and, after seeing some of the frankly awful comments that have been floating around recently about GH (pictures in H&H of hi riding the Fresian) I must say that I was frankly AMAZED and very very impressed with his riding and his advice. AND i think that these photos have been taken completly out of context...he explained about the fresian and it was clear for me to see that they were just taken at completly the wrong moment and he DOESNT ride the horses in this way!!!
He presented a full morning of presntations and "stories" that really helped you to apply the the theory behind what he was telling you to a "real life" experience. He was also very funny and very inspiring as a speaker, he clearly knows his stuff!
Then in the afternoon he actually rode a selection of (very different) horses, and took his theory from his Classical training book to the next level, showing the riders and audience how to apply lateral work to actually bring the horses backs up, and getting them to step from behind in order to optimise the use of their biomechanics etc...
HE was fantastic and I would really really recommend everyone to see him or at least read his book/see the DVD. The same goes for the Horses Inside Out DVD and books- they're really interesting.
We got given a lovely folder with information about upcoming Horses Inside Out events in and I am looking forward to going tosome more
