I have kept chickens for some years now and have always had eggs hatch at 21 days (occasionally plus one or two days). I have some orpington eggs in the incubator and they are already on day 24 and have not even started cheeping inside the egg. I have candled them and they are all fertile and I can see movement so I know they are still alive - I am just wondering is there anything about orpingtons that make them go longer? There are 6 eggs from 3 chickens so only laid two days apart at most.

I know I will get fluffy cuteness really soon but this long gestation has really surprised me.

Don't worry, I'm sure they will hatch when they're ready. Maybe your temp. isn't quite right? I would candle them again in a day or 2.

agreed-maybe your incy is running a bit low-learned my lesson a while back about having two thermometers in there! hope they pip soon. I had one take 3 days to hatch last time-but that was from pipping.
