It's a rather long story, Toto started coughing, he went to the vets, and they decided to scope him and it didn't look good. The gutteral pouches on either side of his face were clear, but further down his throat was sore and gunky. They told us there was a possibility of Stangles! It could also have been a respiritory infection, and we were told that there was a slim chance he could have COPD. They gave us 5 days worth of antibiotics sachets that he had twice a day, and he had another medicine twice a day. He has to live out 24/7 in isolation, until we found out the results from his scope. We were so worried about him!
We got the results back two days ago, and the results showed that he didn't have Strangles, but he does have a respiritory tract bacterial infection and he has lots of inflammitory cells.
He has to have medicine twice a day until the tub is finished, and when he is totally better he has to have an extra 2 weeks off. We had to scrub out his stable, and he's going to have shredded cardboard instead of shavings.
Poor Toto, we're just so relieved that it's not something much worse and that he's getting better. He's very bright eyed and perky, I caught him with his nose rooting through a mole-hill that's popped up in his field today!
