Do the air veneted hats make a big difference? and is there anything else that helps?

I get extreemly hot when i ride, and i usually get a really really hot head because of this. It's disgusting, and i get a really sticky head when i take my hat off even after a light schooling sesson. (Me after a tough lesson or coming back after a round XC is a sight!!)

Does anyone know any cure's?!
If the air vented hats make a significant difference, then thats where my money ive saved up for badminton will be going!

(Sorry if this has been done before!)

People say they do. . . . I bought the Champion Ventair and I get just as hot and sweaty as I did before, even in mid Winter I get a hot head. Bloomin' annoying so I've just given up and wear baseball caps an awful lot :(

Not suitable for competitions but I used to have one of the bike helmet style hats for everyday/hacking and it was fab for keeping my head cool.

I've got a vented skull and it's a little better than a normal one but not by a lot.

If you don't mind what you look like then I would suggest one of the cycle type helmets. I have a troxel helmet which I wear at home (no-one to see me except OH), and I save my nice hat (champion ventair) for lessons etc.

The ventair is OK too, much better than a completely unvented hat definitely. I schooled for an hour today in one at a friends, and my head was only a tiny bit damp.

I find the air vented skulls do help a little, but i still get a slightly sweaty head, especially after XC :/ I also have a GPA ventair? I think its called, now that makes a huge difference and I never get a 'hot head' with it, however it has a fixed peak and is rather pricey.
When I lived in malaysia, (you used to get a sweaty head whatever hat you used) my riding instructor put sanitary pads in his hat to soak up the sweat LOL very strange I know haha but he raved that it worked wonders, but I don't think it would be everyones cup of tea lol and I will add I never tried his method :p haha

The trouble with the air vents is that rain goes straight in so you end up very wet!! I didn't find it made a significant difference when it wasn't raining. Try wearing a cotton bandana or a "buff" under your hat. That helps.

I am terrible too, I get very sweaty head and makes for attractive hair, tried different sorts of hats with vents to no avail!

They do sell things called 'Headliners' which I use in my show hats - they are essentially panty liners that you stick in the forehead space of your riding hat.
(at home i use panty liners shhhh)
Effective and disposable
