Got a little 13.3hh dapple grey connemara named coming on Saturday. Few quick questions though:
1.) basically a little project pony backed late so hasnt done much and only 7 now, saw some videos and photos of her jumping, general late take off over jumps, bad position over them and reluctant to jump on some occasions, had saddle fitted back done etc so presuming it was just not being taught properly with ground poles and grid work. I'm not an expert on this so can someone give me some exercises to do that'll improve this? Planning on going completely back to basis with jumping.
2.) collecting her on Saturday, don't have the option to stable her before turned out into her paddock unfortunately so should I tie her up and groom her for a bit etc and then turn out or immediately turn out into paddock?

That's all for now but expect more when she comes! Will post pictures on the day! Thank you :D

How lovely for you I would just turn out but if you want groom first you can,if horse has been travelling and are going to be turned out rather than stabled they might appreciate a fuss then being allowed to relax and stretch legs in field.
Although do not be surprised if the pony runs around crazy when first turned out as anything new is terribly exciting.
As for the jumping if a late starter with a bad jump I would hack lots and try little jumps when out or take somewhere low key lots of fun to give a bit of confidence.

Very exciting - no advice to give but I hope you have a lovely time with her :)
I'm also getting a new one on Saturday!

Lucky you, love connies. Most have a natural jump, so i'm sure if you get the flatwork sorted the jumping will improve a lot by itself. Would say placing poles & small inviting fences, but hard to say without seeing myself how jumping went once flatwork is established.

No advice re jumping

Good luck, I would make friends with a few pony nuts on arrival and then turn out(just so they know to come back to you next time...that would be my way to make friends)!!. If they seem calm for a brush that is good if she is excited I would just turn out etc, let her chill.

See how they are at your end.

But sounds like you are going to be keeping busy and have fun. Lucky pony.

Do enjoy your new pony! I would probably have a play with her before turning her out, is she going out with new horses or on her own? I generally leave a headcollar on for a few days too.
As for the jumping, keep it low key and small. I like to pop logs and ditches out hacking and keep things calm. I'm also a big fan of loose schooling, so if you have somewhere you can do this then thats great, it will give her the chance to make her mistakes and get her confidence. When moving on trot poles to dinky fences, then as you progress, try a placing pole rolled a little way away from the fence.
Have fun
