We are picking up our puppy at then end of September and we are very excited!! (a British Inuit!)

We have been thinking about all the basics and wondered if anyone has a list as i am worried about forgetting things!

What do we do about collars? do you just buy bigger ones as ou need them and does a puppy need one straight away before they can go out (will be microchipped)

Thanks for your help!

Oooooo another Shoshone! We got ours from a lady in Christows, but the parents were both shoshone. I bet your really excited! You'll have to show us some piccys as soon as!

We got given a collar, harness and lead with Dante, but Hubby wanted to buy him a flashier collar and that one has plenty of room still, best bet take them to the pet shop and they can give you one that will last a while.

We quickly gave up with a harness though! It was nice when we first got him but naturally he was a puller, and a harness was letting him use the strongest part of his body to pull with, his chest, so we quickly had to go to a Halti and he still wears one to this day (he's almost 9 months now.... god thats gone quickly!)

We got a collar for ours which is adjustable, but even on the smallest one (she is a cavalier) it was still too big. Managed to get a very small harness, which on its smallest fitting is okay on her. Harness are better for puppies anyway as not putting too much pressure on sensative dogs. Not sure how big your pup will be when you get it. But a shallow feeding bowl - ours couldn't reach the small ones we got and ended up with a saucer. If you are going to paper train, start saving newspapers now and store them. Nappy sacks to use as poopy bags (cos nappy sacks smell nice).

Thanks, i was thining about adjustable ones, so will have a look ing the shops today.

Will make sure i work out how to post pocs whne she arrives!

Oh my pupsickle has a adjustable collar!! We have been on hols for 2 weeks and i have had to make it biger! its almost too small now! bt we want to get a leather collar and leather and chain lead for her when its her birthday, but i think she may need a bigger nylon one before then!! Well think its nylon!

Umm about the list! just make sure you have puppy proofed everything!! They will always find something you have missed though! and if you have steps they need to go down be dead careful because my silly maggie ran and leapt straight off the top because she didnt know what to do with steps and almost broke her leg! so a great start!! just make sure its bed is ready, yo have paper down if thats what its going to go to the loo on etc!

You will b so excited nearer if you arent already!!
