getting a nice springy canter out of a highland pony??

wee poppy is doing alot of schooling and jumping at the mo but i'm struggling to get a nice springy canter out of her, she doesnt feel like she's properly bring her hind legs under her to give her inpulsion if you kno what i mean?? she also motorbikes round corners i'm practically touching the sand lol!!

there is not ayhing wrong with pop in full health no problems with saddle etc. i think its just because she had such a long time off schooling..................... any tips?
 
Ride plenty of circles and spirals in trot so you really get those hindquarters engaged and working and also plenty of lateral work - all of those will pay off in your canter work with strength and balance.
As a breed that tend to be a bit downhill this is always going to be a challenge, but they can be improved
