Hello,

Last month I sadly had to have my dog p.t.s now I am finding it quiet and empty without him. I am considering getting a cocker spaniel puppy.

Can I find any close to me no!

My search continues.....

Any cocker spaniel owners out there with any advice please do post!

Thanks

Aaah! A cocker spaniel will definitely fill the empty space and it won't be quiet any more!

I don't have one but looked after a friend's last week. What a character! Surprisingly better behaved than I expected for a 6 month old puppy. Fully house trained, he slept in his crate and didn't chew things. His recall was good and he kept well to heel. He was very affectionate! He had just been castrated as he was being too familiar previously. He was very playful, but my two dogs didn't like him as much as he liked them - my Springer had to let him know she was top dog, and my Yorkie was rather jealous as he usually gets most of the fuss and cuddles! The cocker was blissfully ignorant of not being liked very much and kept asking my dogs to play with him!

My friend had to reserve this puppy in the womb, they are certainly in demand.

You are quite a distance from me but my friend has just put her black cocker to stud a couple of weeks ago. Both Mum and Dad have really super working pedigrees with lots of FT champs in there and the Mum is a lovely little cocker with a smashing temperament.

Let me know if you are interested - but we are quite a distance apart!

Advice on cockers??? where to start???

I have a blue roan dog at the moment and before him had a golden bitch. They are friendly, happy dogs that never stop!!

My bitch, Kira, was a rescue at 5 and I lost her at 12 - she was a real character and very dominant - wouldn't let me out of her sight. Sweep, my boy, is getting on for 12 and is the complete opposite - is a total softy and has never been in a fight with another dog in all those years, has been found cuddled up with new born lambs, been chased by hares and his idea of a perfect day is eating hoof trimmings, playing sticks in the brook and stealing carrots from the horses dinner bowls!!

I just adore my spaniels - would trust them with anyone. Anything specific you want to know just ask! When you find puppy lots of piccy's please.

Hope my Mum doesn't spot this... She is already trying to wangle another one out of my Dad

Distance wouldn't be a problem for them either - They drove from Leics to Aberdeen and back in a day for my Dad's last one!!

Henry was a rescue so can't say where he was from... you certainly won't have a quiet life with a Cocker Spaniel though!

Good luck finding one!

we used to have 2 cocker spaniels and i loved them! ours weren't hugely energetic... although we weren't good at taking them on walks - they had the horses fields! although ours did have bad teeth and gum problems, it may have been hereditary though. good luck!

I used to live in North Wales and know a few people who used to breed Cockers and Springers in the area - where abouts in North Wales are you?

We've got a golden Cocker bitch - she's an absolute nutter. We have a Border Collie too and compared with the Collie, the Cocker is crazy!!
