I know its the wrong time of year but looking at my 5 year old coloured mare I was wondering what supplements you guys use for coat condition. I never seem to be able to get an amazing shine like I do on a bay!

Me neither my chestnut shines up like ive groomed her for hours in 5 minutes and my coloured only shines up like that in the summer after a bath and a gallon of coat shine!

I don't use supplements for shine and Star is quite shiney, even straight after a clip. I feed her on good hay, Alfa A, Speedibeet and Top spec Comprehensive balancer.

I've always thought that shine came from the inside. Perhaps its the Top Spec.

I dont think you will ever get the same 'gleaming' shine on a coloured as on a darker colour, but good food and plenty of grooming certainly helps!!.....

People comment on how shiny Tia's coat is. I add a splash of sunflower oil in each feed. Grooming helps too.

30ml Linseed oil once a day, good quality ad lib haylage and a high fibre diet....and lives out with free access to his stable. He doesn't get over-groomed as he does live out mostly.

Taken xmas eve this winter (the gleam isn't too clear in this one)

And two winters ago about this time of year...

Granted its probably easier to get a shine on a piebald compared to a skewbald (and he is mostly dark

I'm always getting comments on how shiny my horses are. They are all fed Baileys Lo-Cal Balancer which is great for their all over condition. I highly recommend it.
