Hi all,

I've been reading the threads here for a while but this is my first post.

After selling my horse a long time ago, then getting married and having a family I'm finally looking for a way to get back in to the local horse community, with a long term plan of owning my own again in the future.

If anyone knows of any friendly yards in or around Milton Keynes that might need a volunteer, I'm more than willing to muck out or clean tack. Or any other suggestions much appreciated!

Thanks for reading!

After a long break from horses, I got back into it a few years ago when I decided to share. I couldn't really afford, in time or money, to own again, but I wanted to get back in the saddle.

I was really lucky, I posted an ad in the local ad-sales and a lovely woman phoned me. Her 23yr old was needing a bit more attention, and she had a young son. I had a wonderful 3 years with him before she retired him. I am now riding hacks at my local RS and looking at getting my own in a few months.

Sharing means being able to be flexible, and understanding of the owner's way of doing things. I was lucky because my owner made me feel as though I had shared custody of the horse, and we often had discussions rather than one way conversations on the way to do things! But I saw some shares that didn't go well because there was a lack of understanding on both parts.

Riding schools may need a hand, look in yellow pages for them.

Riding for the disabled may have volunteer spaces if you just want to be around horses?

Good luck......

If you're after lessons I'd say your best bet is to go to Bury Farm EC in Slaptop, near Leighton Buzzard. I'm a member of the Aspley Guise & District Riding Club which covers south MK and Leighton Buzzard areas and we're a friendly bunch! We have a facebook page and a website too so you can see what we get up to. Good luck - hope you make some horsey friends soon :)

Hi,

Thanks everyone! I'm in Bletchley but I have my own transport. I have been thinking of looking for a share but until now wasn't sure how much time or money I could commit.

Just to say....no luck on the share front, but I've started riding at Plum Park and I'll be volunteering at MKEC this bank holiday weekend.

Thank you all for your help!
