I recently had my new horse looked at the other day by a new back lady, normal lady very busy. When he was being checked over she mentioned that she doesn't think he had been done for some time previous to her coming out and his back had been in the wrong position for some time.
So she started work on him, very thoroughly checked him over then started to manipulate his back. I don't really know the correct terms but when she started to 'bang' his spine back in place she was very forceful and my boy didn't know what the hell was going on and was crapping himself and was obviously in some discomfort.
Now on the other hand my normal back lady is very quiet with the horses, they never seem in any distress or discomfort with her.
So basically i'm asking which one is the norm out of the two??
Normal lady has also dealt with new arrivals with some back problems but has never been as 'forceful' as new lady.

Big glass of Pimms if all this makes sense........

My back man can be a big rough but the results are amazing. I guess there are alot of different methods out there and its finding the one that works for you. I don't think Bentley particularly enjoys getting his back done but the next day he is a different horse and moves so much more freely.

Ditto, I've dealt with one that on one horse was not that 'forceful', yet on another which was waay behind on back checks, was very much like how you mentioned to get things back in place.
