getting elastoplast off a horse's leg

Genio has elastoplast on his legs holding dressings on which can come off on wed. When he had the dressings changed he wasn't overly keen on the vet removing it, any suggestions on getting it off more easily?

If you are allowed to get the wound wet then soak the plasters with a wet sponge..It should turn the glue of the plaster softer and should come off easier..

Surgical spirit soak it if necessary

Thanks, would prob be best not to soak wound although has healed beautifully, will try surgical spirit.
