Springy has a had a bit of an enforced break due to me moving/starting a new job etc. Whilst she is not vastly unfit she has got a bit tubby and I want to try and tone her up a bit and improve her endurance. So suggestions on fitness regimes would be handy! I would like her fit enough to be able to do a one day event by the end of the summer (well that is the aim!)
Thanks.

I think the latest "Your Horse" mag had an areicle on getting your horse fit over a 6 - 8 week period.

Take your time building up her endurance. I did lots off walking and interspereced with some trotting for months. My horse is now pretty fit. Took him for fasr ride on Saturday 10 miles in 1hr 45 mins. A lot off long trots and canters. His breathing and heart rate came back very quickly.

oh no - the poor water buffalo is going to have to do interval training! sooo mean! I'm sure with all the hills and nice hacking you've got about then being ridden every day she will soon trim up! Have you found anyone to show you about yet?

Mmm, she is not so keen on the whole getting fit idea!
Unfortunately I haven't seen anyone to ask if they will show me around - I am just going to have to brave it alone with a map!
I just need some goals each week to achieve with her to keep me motivated and keep her interested, she is being strip grazed too so am hoping she will soon start looking a bit more svelte! I am trying to find out about an instructor too so hopefully things will progress quite quickly.
