Sorry me again last post for a bit..

My gelding has had an awful 12 months and has three claims open. His current lameness hasn't had a new claim opened for it the insurer NFU has just said wait and see what they think when the vets report comes in. Whether it be added to an existing one or a new one. He is in the hospital though and this I think could end up with being a really big bill. They haven't accepted the last open claim yet as the vet owes them paperwork. I have chased the vet but its just occurred to me how far do you let it go without it accepted?

There are no exclusions as yet that I am aware of but I am sure on renewal at the end of the month there won't be too much of him left covered.

Sending him there is expensive as I have to pay for transport each time. Our vet has you sign a form saying that you will pay if the insurance doesn't. WWYD?

Sorry to hear you're not having a great time! It would help if you added what the issues are as that would help other people to share their experience.

IME, I was with NFU and I had a horse with 3 open claims in just over 12 months - one for ulcers, one for hocks, one for PSD in both hinds and they opened separate claims for each one so I got the full £5K limit for each issue. NFU were very good and didn't link them but I know other companies do (especially ulcers) but the problem is with issues like that is that they are usually all linked but can never say for sure what caused the initial problems so my vets were just careful with their wording (sadly we had to PTS before we got to the bottom of it anyway)

Hope you get it sorted!

One was stuck in a fence huge lacerations and surgery. Then the next was poor performance (dangerous ridden) still haven't got to the bottom of that and the latest is RH lameness suspected stifle. There is a pre-existing stifle issue on the other side (same as stuck in the fence) but not thought to be the cause of the extreme ridden behaviour. No ulcers, KS present they were stuck now this other lameness has appeared too. The stifle x-rays on RH are clear if there was a fracture as they suspected I would have PTS due to all he's had already.

The vets have just rang they are now sorting out their bit after a big complaint on my part. I know I am liable for anything to do with the pre-existing just concerned it could somehow come back to that and then my bill is huge. The accident is all paid up but still open for a month or so more. Vets don't think the new is connected to that either. It has just been about 12 months of lame horse. In between he lamed me.

I would not be surprised if an insurance company linked investigation for poor performance or dangerous ridden and lamaness on an opposite stifle to the pre exisitng stifle problem so I would be wary it might not be covered.

This is my concern. I guess I will have to chase them up and see what they are doing. The vets have had the paper work incomplete since last November the whole thing is a big mess up on someones part no doubt about it.
