I've just finished eventing my IrishTB for the season due to a knock in his confidence from a few nasty HFs we've had training. I was just wondering how i could keep him fit/ carry on getting him fit? Any ideas please throw them at me!!!! :p
Thanks

I'm slightly confused (and excuse me if I'm being thick!) but if you've been eventing your horse up til now, why are you asking about getting him fit? Surely you got him fit at the beginning of the season? :p

If he has had several falls (HF ??) then I would get him checked out by a competant chirporactor to make sure that he hasn't damaged himself in anyway before you do too much more work with him

I'm planning on hunting him and where I am theres not much I can do out and about to keep it up "/ on the outskirts/ in ferry medows you see, so lots of people!! AND hes not completly hunting fit, and i go wih the cotts who go at a fair pace! :D

We have had the back person out and he is fixed and fine (: she is coming bakc out again in a month to check up on him and we will have her ofton as his back and him being out of pain is my main concern more than anything else! manily out of pain tho!!

Now I understand!!

I wouldn't worry too much at the moment - just keep him in normal work for the time being! Most of ours are still walking at the moment - won't start autumn hunting for another month at least so shan't start trotting for another couple of weeks

We have one who I'm planning to get ultra fit for my OH and he's currently working in the arena at least 2-3 times a week - normal schooling for about an hour, hacked 2x week for an hour, lunged one day. He will start doing some faster work once the ground gets softer, but for the moment, does quite well with weekly jumping sessions when he ends up puffed. The plan is that he'll be almost Opening Meet fit by the time we start AH (he's not going, so it won't matter that he'd be too fit for it!!)

It's too hard to be doing anything else - I'm not jarring them now - they've got to last all winter lol!

ok, sound like what I do with mine! but I dont tend to lunge. I carnt really jump mine other than compertions as our school is awful as its like a layer of dust then concreate so im reluctant to jump and the ground is rock solid!!! so .....

Yes, thats the important part!! LOL!
