Can you do it??

I was mega chuffed yesterday when, the horsey turned around and presented me with her off side. I wanted to get on from a slightly raised area, but standing 'correctly' wasn't happening. And me being me, didn't want to waste time faffing about So, I just got on from the wrong side.... BRAIN FRY! It seemed to take me a few secs to make sure I had the right foot in the stirrup! Made even more impressive (I thought) said horsey is hogged, so no mane to grab. Not bad for a non-bouncy slightly too over weight at the mo nearly 32 year old me! lol :D

Yes I can :D Prefer not to get on from the ground at either side, but can get on from tree stump etc from both sides. I do find it difficult at first go for a while but not too bad with sorting out which foot to put in. In fact last year at our RC fun show we won the handy pony/horse and getting on from the wrong side from a straw bale was part of the comp. Oh and I am a good few years older than you  :D

Well done.

But I bet ya I'm more non-bouncy and over weight than you are :p

Yep I can...........I had a replacement "left" knee a couple of years ago and had to get on from the "wrong side" for about 4/5 months after the op but not from the ground and I bet I'm more non bouncy, overweight & older than you

Yes, when I had a leg injury, the only way to get on was from a ladder using my good leg. Its quite handy to be able to mount from either side and I can't see any reason why people don't use both sides equally.

Not sure about the non-bouncy, but I am verging on underweight  (BMI of 20. something), which may have some bearing :D Mind you at the moment the mare makes up for it, she is on a diet and I am eating all I can see :D

Yep when I first got the yellow pony we had a few issues with mounting and he wouldnt stand with the mounting block on the correct side. So he got squished in to a corner with the block on the 'wrong' side and was very confused when I still managed to get on . Now I can stand him next to any thing and he lets me get on from either side :).
