Daisy has recently had a new saddle because her old one was lifiting at the back on one side and causing soreness. The new one fits beautifully so I'm pretty sure thats not the problem but when we came back from her first really long ride yesterday (2 1/2 hours) she seems to be a little sore in the old area again. Chiro is fairly sure that it isn't a veterinary problem like KS because it completely goes away between flare ups, yesterday may just have been a bit too much for her recovering back.
For those of you that have changed saddles due to soreness, how do you go about getting your horse to work properly through its back again and to persuade them not to tense because it won't hurt anymore? My RI is coming out on Thursday for our first lesson in new saddle so will ask her, just interested in people's thoughts in the meantime. I've been lunging her in her pessoa and doing lots of loose schooling to let her rebuild her fitness without any pressure on her back, any other ideas?
