Getting rescued horse into work

Rescued a feral bag of bones 7 months ago who, after a lot of hard work including 50 days away at a P2P yard being retrained, has turned out to be rather a good horse.
Now I have to get him riding out on his own and due to lack of companions to ride out with work towards this has halted. Any suggestions how to do this on my own bearing in mind that he is a tad feisty. I executed a full 360 in the air last time he bucked me off!!

Could you not start by walking him out first, congrats on taking on a rescue
