A few of you might remember that I took my new horse cubbing for the first time a few weeks ago. He behaved better than I expected to start with- few bronks in the first canter and took off a bit but after that so long as I kept him moving he was great.

After 10-15 mins of fast work in a field of 30-40 we stopped and surrounded cover. It blew his brains- he got more and more restless until he was running backwards, rearing, fly bucking etc etc.

I won't take him again as it takes me enough bottle to take a well behaved horse hunting! BUT I really enjoy it so it would be a shame to give up.

Have found an experienced lad to take him out for me.

Has anyone done this, anything I should be wary of- legal implications if my horse injures him etc?

Think it will do my horse the world of good but want to go into it with my eyes wide open!

It sounds like a good strategy. Hopefully once he's calmed down he'll be perfect for you.

If you're a member of the CA then you can get half an hour free legal advice regarding liability if there's an accident etc.

These things are bound to be covered by appropriate insurance.
