Right, here's the deal. SWUO may well be going to her first show on 14th July at Aylestone(any showing peeps know of it?) Ponies do not have to be registered with their breed societies to enter the classes(it's a native pony show) so Jelly, being an unregistered Section A, will be able to enter M&M classes

Problem we have is her tail...the horror in the field with her is eating it/nibbling it/being a git so I need to know how to dissuade him from chewing her bloomin tail off AND how to tidy up SWUO's tail so it looks natural as befits her type(ie pulled is no good for M&M)

Here's a pic, although have to say it's been chewed abit more since then.

So, come on (showing) peeps....what do I do with it?

Well you can't pull it I suppose because of her breed type. So I would utlimately just have it as silky as you can with lots of tail conditioner - and bandaged a few hours before you show her.

As for stopping the little horror chewing it? Raw chillis rubbed on her tail will most definately do the trick!!

I think the only thing to do would be wet it and bandage it for a few nights and see if it tames it a bit. I have no experience of pulling so don't know if taking a few hairs would neaten it up without making it look pulled? Used to show welsh cobs and found a bit of hairgel diluted with water under the tail bandage helps too.

No the chillis shouldn't because you are only using the juice which is clear.

maybe do a little spot test first though to be on the safe side......

I wouldnt worry about it too much, you can discreetly pull and tidy it, then wet it, apply bangdage and hey presto.

Shettie is clipped, all his beard has gone... AND his tail has been pulled. And we're hopefully going (depends how he behaves in his first show). Aylestone is a nice little show, friendly and relaxed. Definately worth an entry!

See you there
