We have a beautiful 22month old staffy and although he isnt underweight, I personally would like to see a little bit more on him. He is very fine for a Staff! He is currently fed Skinner Field and Trial (it's their hypoallergenic one as it helps with his skin) He eats around 2 full bowls of this a day (split into 3 meals). He goes for at least one long walk a day and 2 smaller ones but is always boucing around, so I dont know if this is keeping the weight off him!

Anyway the point of my post was to see if there is anything we can give him to get a tiny bit more weight on him?

Sorry to play devil's advocate, but if he isn't underweight, why do you want more weight on him? Most dogs you see around nowadays are heavier than they should be but it is, in my opinion, better for them to have a tad too little than a tad too much weight.

Which field & trial? There are several different ones.

I would feed him once a day - as much as he'll eat and then give raw lamn breasyt at the other end of the day.
No reason for a dog this age to have three meals.

If he loses any weight he WILL be underweight! We dont want him to be overweight (and we are capable of telling if he is or not!) but would like to see a little more on him.

It's the duck and rice gluten free one? He is on 3 feeds a day as he wont eat one big feed and we've got him into the routine he has his meals when we have ours. It works for us and we personally dont see the problem with him having his meals split into 3.

It sounds like he needs for calories than he is getting.
Do you give him anything other than the Skinners and do you feed it dry? Try sardines in oil with the Skinners?

Dogs digestive systems have evolved to deal with a large meal and then clear it through before the next one (opposite of a grazing animal like a horse) so three meals are not helping as he will never be hungry. He has you very well trained though.

No he doesnt get anything else and it is fed dry. He is already having more than the reccommended amount for his weight but he just bounces it off!!

Again the 3 meals a day was OUR choice, he's got into the routine of when we eat he eats and then he goes off and relaxes. I also dont see what difference it makes if he goes hungry or not, he eats all the food he is given each meal time.

I would also change to the superior or arden grange which is good for weight maintainance, i neva kept my dogs on the duck n rice as a few dropped weight. Add tripe or a glug of veg oil to the food if u want to keep him on the food he is on.

Dex was fed Skinners Duck and rice when I first had him. He too is a Stff type and needed weight on. I gave him tripe and or sardines in oil/tom sauce and he soon picked up.

When I first had my skin and bones lurcher, she was on at least four meals a day, tripe/pasta/eggs/sardines/rabbit pieces/chicken. She was a very stressy dog and used to burn off calories through nervous energy alone. She was also riddled with worms, which was dealt with. Once up to weight, her meals were reduced and ten years later we are now going the other way and having to watch her weight - happens to us all in the end!:D

I have three staffords and do have to keep an eye on the youngest for the same reason. She is fed on junior JWB mixed with either butchers or nature diet plus liver biscuits..my vet told me the only real difference between the puppy, junior etc was the amount of protein so she is still on junior and that works. Unfortunately, each dog has totally different feeding requirements so I do always seem to have a LOT of dog food in my house! Oh ...how about some pictures too?

Staffords, contrary to the opinion of the idiots dragging them around on short chains and then complaining about their hyper dogs, are high energy and full on so not surprised you sometimes struggle...
