I have recently bought a lovely 4 year old gelding tb x cob, well broken super start in life, but was only used to siblings at home, I've only some donkeys at home, and have just taken him to a couple of lessons, he's never been to any competitions, any tips on getting him used to other horses, at the moment his eyes are out on stalks if he sees anything horselike!! your suggestions welcome!!

Just got to be brave and start taking him to little shows, or try and meet up with mates to go hacking. If you take him to a show or clinic he will probably be too gobsmacked to worry about the others!

Hey, i took my baby horse to inhand shows, and little dressage leagues. A few times i'd take him and we wouldnt even end up competing just school him with the other horses if he got worked up. you just have to be prepared that you are going to socialise and if they behave then you get to do the class if not its experience and next time they will be better. My boy is now behaving really well after not many events, after a while he settled down.

Agree with the other posters "group" activities the best thing for him. You could put a green ribbon in his tail if you think he could become a little unpredictable. People are mostly sympathetic to young horses
