As the title really. Im looking for a new saddle, and having previously ridden in some of their saddles thought they were quite comfy but someone mentioned to me the other day about how they sometimes have problems with the flocking balling up?
So Id love to hear all your experiences and opinions.

Have used GFS Saddles for the past 5 years and no problems at all and they are sooooooo comfortable :) and i have had no issues with the flocking balling up :D

I have one....its lovely- its pratically brand new though, but it doesn't fit my new horse so alas it has to go.....

I'm gutted it doesn't fit him....its the most comfortable saddle I've ever had.

GFS pro VSD 17" MW in havanna......if you're interested;)

I had one from new (VSD) and never really got on with it. It never really wore in to look nice, it stayed looking a bit plasticky. Also horse didnt take to it as much as his old hunting saddle so I sold it in the end. It needed flocking more often than my old saddle, I did notice that, maybe cos there wasnt as much flocking in it as the old saddle.

I've had two, the first one got stolen so I got another one! :D I have the Pro Event which is quite versatile and I think it's a fairly good cut, I got one of the last new ones before the Xchange ones came out and the one that got stolen was second hand. The leather on my current one is a lot nicer than that on the other I had, it's much softer and feels like it's better quality so get a newer one if you can :) The knee rolls have little air holes in them which really help cushion your knees and the seat is very comfy. I got a 17" and wish I'd have got an 18" because I'm very long in my thigh so when I put my stirrups up my knees nearly come over the front! Mine cleans up really well, wouldn't recommend the older ones for quality but the newer ones are lovely, never had a problem with mine, hope that helps :D

I bought a pro VSD a few weeks back and its a lovely saddle especially for the price! The only issue i have with mine is that my knees come over the front and its 18" so now looking for a pro event

My loan mare has a GFS haflinger. She has had it for years and there is no problems with the flocking, it is checked a couple of times a year.

It is sooo comfortable however it puts my legs in such a horrible position!! No matter how hard I try my legs keep being pushed forwards. We have tried a different saddle on the mare and I didn't have that problem! I do agree that they can look plasticky.

But I have to agree, apart from a Stubben saddle, it is the most comfortable saddle I've sat in!

I love mine, ive got a pro event which i have had for 3 years and it was off ebay then. really comfy, its a 17' med and seems to be one of those saddles which fits lots of different horses reasonably well.

I have the Pro Event too, must be the same one you're on about as it has the little air holes. I bought it for my new horse in May but it no longer fits him. Gutted as it's so comfy and and made me feel so secure. Also for sale if anyone interested.....

So general consenus seems to be that they are good saddles, which is good as I've seen a couple of second hand ones which I like
To those of you have the event, how forward cut are they? Im looking for a good all round saddle, as I want to hopefully do quite a bit of jumping but for hacking and schooling I do tend to ride quite long and some saddles I've tried don't give me security when my leg is in this position.
