Hi

Having just bought the most beautiful 2yo buckskin mare who eventually I hope to event, I wonder does anyone else on here own one, and what do you do with them, plan to do ?

They were all such beautiful horses , and all so athletic, I’m so excited about the future of my lovely mare.

She's beautiful! Appassionata? ;) I've followed & admired them for many years, on numerous occasions having my eye on one but in the end bought my youngster from another breeder. Will look forward to seeing how you get on!!

Yes your right that’s her , thank you , I too have followed them for years admiring their horses wishing I could own one until one day I thought well why aren’t you, I’ve always loved buckskin but I also love Eventing so didn’t want to compromise on the horse to get the colour , with gfs I don’t think you do.
How old is your youngster what did you end up buying and how are they getting on?

I could have written that myself! haha That's why I ended up watching the page so closely. I was actually a bit relieved when the stud relocated that further away as it also lessened the temptation! Definitely no compromise with GFS is there, must be so exciting waiting for her to grow up.

I've always been the same, love a buckskin & want to get out eventing but definitely wanted something bred for the job with the colour being a bonus, not the other way as you see so often, so really did my research into bloodlines so I knew which lines were proven etc but something with a nice attitude - not hot as hell. Also had so many false starts ending up with other peoples broken horses & lies I figured I'd start from scratch again with a youngster so knew what I had. My boy has just turned 2 & is on youngstock livery loving life in his little herd, such a willing attitude & unphased by most things - mostly due to lots of handling by his breeder which makes a huge difference, so really pleased so far. He's by Crowns Ace of Pearl out of a mare by Legrande, supposed to make around 16hh but growing like a weed & looking around 15.3hh already! Stepladder will be on order . . . .

Wow sounds equally stunning and talented legrande is another stallion I have been watching, and offspring by. Ace of Pearl looks fabulous to, with a cracking jump.

My youngster too is going out to grass with fellow youngsters although the herd also has some oldies in it .
She is also beautifully handled was such a good girl when she was vetted, allowing Flexion and even having a dental brace put in.
You do realise if you go Eventing with a high profile colour people are going to notice you, I’ve got about 3 years to up my game lol.
We will have to compare notes throughout.
Appassionata is 16.1 already 😱

They are even more gorgeous in real life, absolutely stunning , loved the buckskin foal from this year and the cheeky spotty colt, and the stallions were so well behaved and chilled you really didn’t know they were entire .

Am very excited to get my girl home

Oh wow she's going to be huge!!! Makes such a difference when they've had the handling work out in & a nice temperament doesn't it. I don't know about you but I had such a tough time finding a youngstock livery, nothing at all close to me! Will definitely have to compare notes lol although I've never evented before myself due to various reasons, so it'll be a long & steep learning curve for me, but something I've always wanted to do so will be giving it my all! Can't wait to see how you get on! Exciting times!!

Yes your not wrong there youngstock livery is hard to find here to , I have to travel to. Grass livery is easy but not with other youngsters , and where my mare is going not only are there other youngsters to play with but they keep a very close eye on them all, additionally I can swop her over when she’s old enough with my elderly boy who will be semi retiring.

You and your lad are the carbon copy of me and my mare lol except I have evented a lot through the years .

Can’t wait to compare notes very exciting times ahead
